试题答案:A

2、 根据以下材料,回答{TSE}题
As time goes on, how to do good critical thinking is increasingly marginalized or even left outof the modem educational process. Critical thinking involves a mental process that is highly disci-plined and therefore requires most practitioners to be trained in it. This training is best begun in theformative years, and it is best taught by energetic, motivated teachers who continually challenge,and debate, and demand increasingly rigorous thinking of their young students. However, as in allthings, it is never too late to begin.
Critical thinking is the process of evaluating and analyzing a proposition or an argument thathas been offered to the thinker, for criticism, as being true. There follows a process of reasoning,evaluation of the offered evidence, and reflection, always begun from a point of skepticism. Aproper critique of the offered argument involves more than direct Observation. Besides reasoning,cognition and experience, proper critical thinking also involves intellectual values that go beyondthe specific argument or Object being critically examined.
These intellectual values involve Objective truth. Objective truth is that truth which comes fromsomewhere outside of our minds. Subjective truth is that truth which comes from within us; thatwhich we feel, or sense, or believe to be true. Objective truth stands alone, and does not dependupon us to remain true; it's completely independent of the mind of man. No matter what we think about it, how we think about it, or even if we think about it, Objective truth remains Objective truth,unchanged, and impervious. Objective truth must always be taken into consideration in order to dogood critical thinking.
There are different forms of Objective truth, ranging from solid to ephemeral. In the "hard science" fields, such as mathematics, physics and chemistry, the most recognized Objective truths involve proven mathematical formulae, or recognized scientific laws, or widely recognized and as yetunrefuted scientific theories. These "hard" Objective truths are taken by the critical thinker to be axioms or givens, and thus, useful tools to help in the critical thinking process. The process therebybuilds upon a foundation of previously proven truth. No matter how technically advanced we everbecome, we are all, individually and collectively, called to think about things. It is ourhuman nature.
{TS}It is suggested that the training of critical thinking in the formative years is best conducmd by teachers (单选题)

A. because it requires well-organized mental activity.

B. because it has been stressed in modem education.

C. who marginalize the traditional idea of education.

D. who can direct students towards rigorous thinking.

试题答案:D

3、 根据以下材料,回答{TSE}题
It's almost an article of faith: your best ally in the fight against cancer is a doggedly optimisticoutlook. And it would seem that mounting evidence of the links between emotional and physicalwell-being would support that view. The only problem is that there is no good evidence to supportthat belief when it comes to cancer. Moreover, the "tyranny" of positive thinking often becomesjust one more burden for the sick.
It was research in the 1970s and '80s that first popularized the idea that attitude might affectcancer outcomes. Such research led doctors to encourage patients to think happy thoughts and visu-alize their immune system blasting away cancer cells. But most of those studies have been dismissedas either flawed or inconclusive. A review of 37 studies that was published in the British MedicalJournal in 2002 found that although a positive outlook does correlate with the perception of lesspain by patients-a real benefit-there is "little consistent evidence that coping styles play an impor-tant part in survival from or recurrence of cancer. "
Still, the optimism theory remains attractive. One reason is that Americans live in a culturethat desires control. We want to believe that we can beat cancer by imposing our will on the dis-ease. A better reason is that mental states like depression and chronic anxiety have been shown to have physical consequences that affect the progression of such illnesses as heart disease and diabetes. While a similar connection is biologically plausible for cancer, it is far from proven.
Even researchers who believe that studies will ultimately establish links between stress and theprogression of cancer, like Stanford's Dr. David Spiegel, know the picture is complex. "It isn't amatter of ' Fix it in your mind, and you fix it in your body, ' " he says, "but it would be strange ifwhat goes on in our minds didn't affect how our bodies deal with illness. "
So where does that leave cancer patients? Doctors know that individuals will always bring theirown disposition-sunny, sour or sarcastic-to bear on their illness and treatment. Pressuring themto be models of positive thinking is useless. Worse, it could cause them to hide their fears and reject support. But clinicians must remain alert for signs of depression, which can affect the outcomeof any disease if it interferes with treatment. And many patients will also need-and welcome-help to improve poor coping skills. Spiegel says, "Having worked with people with life-threateningillnesses for 30 years, it's clear that there are better and worse ways to deal with these things. "False optimism isn't helpful, but neither is despair.
{TS}By saying“the‘tyranny’of positive thinking”(Line 5,Paragraph l),the author probably means (单选题)

A. people cannot but tllink optimistically.

B. it is unfair to force people to think positively.
