During the early years of this century, wheat was seen as thevery lifeblood of Western Canada. People on city streets watchedthe yields and the price of wheat in almost as much feeling as if        1.______they were growers. Grain Exchangetrading was suspended, and farmers sold at prices fixed by theboard. To handle the crop of 1919, the government                   9.______appointed the first Canadian Wheat Board, with total authority to       10.______buy, sell, and set prices.
