社会主义民主，又称“无产阶级民主”、“人民民主”。是指在社会主义条件下，全体人民在共同享有对生产资料的不同形式的所有权、支配权的基础上，享有管理国家的最高权力。是社会绝大多数人的民主，最高类型的民主。在社会主义社会里，国家权力属于人民，人民当家作主，管理国家，管理经济，享有政治、经济、文化教育等广泛权利和自由，并且有法律和物质的切实保障。社会主义民主是对人民民主和对敌人专政的辩证统一，只有对敌人专政，才能保障人民民主。人民民主是民主和集中的统一。

资本主义
资本主义（capitalism）是一种以生产资料私有制为基础的社会制度。其主要内容是占有生产资料的资产阶级通过购买劳动力进行剥削。在这种制度下，以其各种形态出现的资本是主要的生产资料。资本可以表现为用于购买劳动力和生产材料的货币和信贷；也可以表现为有形的机器（狭义上的资本）；或表现为成品、半成品的存货。无论采取什么形式，它总是资产阶级所掌控的私人拥有的资本；资本主义的特点是：生产以销售为目的，出现买卖劳动力的市场，使用货币作为交换媒介；资本家占有资本，支配着生产过程和金融决策，经济行为以寻求利润为目标；资本之间存在着竞争，但实质上则趋于垄断。
