双壳油船
双壳油船，是指双层底、船侧具有内外两层壳板的运油“船舶”。为了进一步改善海上石油运输安全，国际海事组织海上环境保护委员会第44次会议一致同意把采用双壳油船、逐步淘汰单壳油船看作消除不合格油船措施的一个重要方面，并于2001年4月MEPC第46次会议上正式通过了单壳油船淘汰方案，作为《国际船舶防污染公约》3G款的修正条款。按照该方案，单壳油船最晚淘汰的年份将是2017年。

油船
油船，是指运载石油及石油产品（如柴油、汽油和重油等)的“船舶”。其结构特点是：①用油泵通过管路装卸货物，故甲板上没有起货设备和大的货舱口，但设有入孔舱口。②由于石油易于挥发、燃烧和爆炸，故对防火安全要求严格,国际海事组织1978年议定书规定，载重量2万t以上的新造油船,须有惰性气体防爆设施，机舱须设在尾部。③货油舱用多道纵舱壁和多道横舱壁分隔，以减小自由液面对稳性的影响。④船体长深比大，弯曲力矩大，故多采用纵骨架式结构，以增加纵向强度。⑤运输常为单方向的，回程空放时为保持一定的吃水，须装载大量压载水，故现代大型油船须设有专用压载水舱，或用油舱装压载水，压载以前须将油舱洗净，因此油船必须设有原油洗舱设备。随着石油产量和运输量的迅速增长，油船向大型化发展，世界上最大的油船是日本的“海上巨人”号，总长458.54m,船宽68.8m，型深29.8m,吃水24.6m,载重量56万吨。
